Leah - Wow, India, what can I say, it is a crazy mixture of religion, poverty, filth and beauty all at the same time. Mumbai was interesting, Goa relaxing, and Delhi mad. We are now in lovely Rishikesh where we are staying in a really nice, quiet (by Indian standards) area for less that 5 quid a night….brilliant.

I am fully embracing the lifestyle having had my first massage (and planning the second) and have taken my first yoga lesson today. Apparently Rishikesh is the yoga centre of the world?!

Marc has done a cookery course where he learnt to cook some of the really yummy dishes we have been eating, and he is now embarking on a very intense and quite scary sounding kayaking course.

We went white water rafting the other day which I was a little nervous about at first., but I totally loved it and will definitely do it again some time soon.

We are thinking about moving on but are enjoying it here so much we are delaying our decision……we are also thinking about heading to Varanasi which is supposed to be quite the eye opener (they cremate people on the river and throw dead bodies into the river if they cannot cremate them for whatever reason).

It’s so bad that I’ve already started to miss the food back home, the other day I was torturing myself with thoughts of parma ham and mozzarella. The food here is good though and Marc and I have now been vegetarians for 3 whole weeks (Joe P would be proud). The only problem is that in Rishikesh there is (supposed to be) no alcohol, no meat, no eggs; all of these items are forbidden on religious grounds, however they are all obtainable if you ask the right people………….

I have the feeling we are just touching the very tip of many Indian adventures to come…..

  1. Glad you're enjoying the adventure and are appreciating all the beautiful things hidden behind the constant noise and odours!

You're not bad for missing food at home at all - having curry 3 times a day including breakfast would make anyone miss a coffee and croissant! ;-)

Enjoy the many months of adventures to come and I look forward to reading more!
