Pualu Pangkor with Mum and Nina

After Sabah we headed for the mainland, stopping in Kuala Lumpur for one night before making our way up and across the country to Pualu Pangkor, where we were to meet Cea and Nina (Marc's mum and sister). We arrived to a very small and pretty island after a crazy bus ride from KL. We met up with Cea and Nina who were staying in a very plush resort and spent the whole afternoon catching up on news from home which was really nice. We then spent the next few days lazing on the beach, eating some really good sea food, drinking, and enjoying the sea, sunshine and company.

Nina and I enjoying the shade - it was too hot to sit directly in the sun

We celebrated Nina's birthday by hiring canoe's for the afternoon and cruising across to one of the nearby islands. We then indulged with chocolate cake, champagne and a delicious seafood dinner on the beach; hopefully the perfect birthday. We also hired scooters one day and rode around the island in tandem checking out the local historic sites (there weren't many;  one tiny Dutch Fort!).

Canoe trip

Marc and Nina's very impressive sandcastle (four breasted) - Leah 'managed' from the sun lounger.

Next was a daytrip to the Cameron Highlands where we visited the stunning BOH tea plantations where we indulged in egg sandwiches and really fresh tea. Then a really cool butterfly and bug farm and a scented rose garden; a really lovely day.

All part of the adventure- a puncture on the way

BOH (Best of Highlands) tea plantation

It was so great to have a nice cup of tea and a nice cool breeze up in the Highlands, a welcome reprieve from constant +30 degrees on the island.

Ahh, it's a pretty butterfly..
