Hong Kong phewy

Arrived in Hong Kong airport from Kathmandu and you would have thought we traveled ahead in time by about 50 years. The airport loos were better than any accommodation we had stayed in in Nepal. We stayed with Leah's old work mate Brylea and her boyfriend Paul who could not have been more accommodating. Brylea showed us around some great spots, including food markets, amazing restaurants and places to buy other travel essentials. Hong Kong puts London transport to shame, everything works so efficiently and for a third of the price. We stayed on Hong Kong island, just a short walk from the downtown area and Kowloon.

Brylea is as crazy as Leah is about Christmas, so copious amounts of crimbo music, Ferrero Rocher and wine were consumed. Their apartment had an amazing view over Hong Kong and Kowloon. First taste of Christmas this year but in 5 star luxury.

Views from Brylea and Paul's place.

Streets in Kowloon were hectic. Food everywhere and people eating all day and night. The produce was amazingly fresh. The locals wanted fish so fresh that it's heart had to still beat before they bought it, even when it was chopped up, crazy stuff.

Meat was back on the menu after being veggie pretty much up until now.

You can buy anything here.

  1. It is so cool to find out how others see Hong Kong and the pictures are excellent - love the birds in the window picture and the street market shot (still trying to figure out where they are!). Wish you guys were still here as there is so much more to show you and things to do (and of course the chatting around the table, wine drinking, potential shopping, eating...). Come back soon - spare room is always ready for you guys!
